Oh, friends! We’ve got a treat for you today!! This Antelope Canyon maternity session barely felt real!
Morgan and Ryan are such a special couple to us. We photographed their wedding a few years ago (You might recognize them as some our favorite comedic relief in The AJ Bride video! Especially at minute 1:38!) and even hosted one of our summer AJ Bride parties, so when we got the email that they were expecting their first baby, our hearts were basically exploding with happiness! They are going to be such great parents, and we can’t wait to meet their precious little girl!
Morgan had a vision for her maternity session from the minute she found out that she was pregnant, and knew she wanted to do it in one of Arizona’s most iconic and treasured landmarks: Antelope Canyon. Neither one of us have ever been to Antelope Canyon, so we honestly didn’t really know what to expect, but we loved their idea and knew that no matter what happened, it would be one heck of an adventure!
We loaded up the car and hit the road (with Starbucks in hand and Hamilton blasting on Spotify) for the four-hour drive up to Northern Arizona. When we met up with Morgan and Ryan, and our tour guide Chris, he started leading us closer to the entrance of the canyon, which looked like a tiny, narrow crack in the ground barely big enough for our cats to get through, but somehow we all shimmied down (props to Morgan for doing this SEVEN months pregnant!) and as soon as we got down there we. were. in. complete. awe.
The canyon was so much more majestic and wonderful than we imagined. Even though it doesn’t look like it in these photos, the canyon was PACKED wall-to-wall with tourists from the second we got in to the second we got out, so we really could NOT have made this shoot happen without Tour Guide Chris! It was so fun to explore all the nooks and crannies together.
After we explored the canyon, we hiked up to Horseshoe Bend to finish off their session just before it started to rain! This was another spot we’d never visited before, so we couldn’t help but leave this session feeling more in love with Arizona than ever before.
