Last weekend, just a few days before we moved to our new house and said goodbye to our condo for the very last time, we had the privilege of photographing Jen and Brad’s blush Venue at the Grove wedding and working with one of our favorite crazy talented floral designers (Sarah’s Garden) and a couldn’t-possibly-be-kinder wedding planner (Wild One Events) who was ALSO a bridesmaid in the wedding AND pregnant. Talk about skillz. You read that right. Skillz. With a “z.”
But, truly, on such a big weekend for us personally (with the move) it was so refreshing professionally to get to serve such sweet, fun-loving people like Jen, Brad and their family and friends. We’ve never had the chance to shoot at Venue at the Grove before, either, so that’s always a stimulating change to find the best light and locations.
The real reason we knew this wedding was going to be awesome, though? The bridesmaids’ getting ready playlist. Because anytime you can start with old-shool Mariah Carey, sprinkle in some Jewel (maybe Hansen? we can’t remember. but it was definitely a classic 90s/millennium jam) and end with Whitney Houston, it’s gonna be a gooood day. The playlist was so good that we can even forgive most of the bridesmaids for being University of Arizona Wildcats instead of Arizona State Sun Devils, Amy’s alma mater. But just this once, ladies. Just this once 😉
Seriously, though. Jen. Brad. From the first time we Skyped with you all the way from the Lone Star State, to the moment we heard Mariah singing do do doop dum on the other side of your getting ready room door, we knew that we were going to love your wedding day — and we did. Almost as much as we love both of you. Thank you, from the bottom of our heart, for the trust you placed in us to document the biggest day of your life together thus far. We hope you love looking back on these memories as much as we loved capturing them for you.
