This month, we got to start the new year with a little retreat with two of our most cherished friends on St. Simons Island, Georgia. We already blogged all about our trip: the marathons of Settlers of Catan, the picnic on the beach, golf carting around the island, late night conversations in our PJs (you can catch up here!) and we already blogged the portraits we snagged of Anna and Ryan (you can see those here!). Today, we get to share a few of our favorite photos that Anna took of us!
Even though we were all technically on vacation, we just couldn’t resist taking photos under the amazing Spanish moss and on Driftwood Beach! These two spots were just begging for portraits, so we decided to do little mini-shoots at the exact same time. It was quite the adrenaline rush for two reasons: first, it. was. cold. Every second the shutter wasn’t firing, we were snuggled under coats trying to thaw our freezing fingers. And second because we were splitting time between two couples, and the two locations were so far apart, we each had about a quarter of the time we normally do to shoot! But as soon as I opened up the gallery Anna sent us, that all faded away! She made it look like we had all the time in the world, and somehow even managed to make us look warm!
Annamarie Akins first took our portraits for our five year anniversary in Venice, and ever since then, we’ve been spoiled by her beautiful work in some of the world’s most gorgeous locations in three different countries! (Remember these ones in Charleston?) Even though we’ve been completely spoiled by her beautiful work, we’ve been more spoiled by her friendship. Anna and Ryan have been such a blessing in our lives even though they live on the opposite end of the country, and we basically spend all of our free time plotting ways to spend more time together. Sharing these photos made us realize we never shared the portraits she took for us in England (what on earth is wrong with us?!) so we’ll be sure to share those soon too! But for now, here’s a few of our many favorites from our little shoot on vacation!
