Oh, guys. You’re in for a treat today! We just loved this session! Right before we left Arizona for a little trip to San Diego last week, we snuck in Kelli and Jon Anthony’s desert engagement session, and left feeling so inspired!
Shooting in August definitely has it’s downfalls (like triple digit temperatures!) but it also has an unpredictable element that can make for an absolutely epic session: the increased likelihood of a storm! And that’s what we got! The wind was roaring through the desert and thick clouds were rolling in over the mountains during Kelli and Jon Anthony’s session, which, even though it might seem counter-intuitive, made our photographer-hearts so happy! Why?
Well for starters, Beyonce wind.
Enough said. Right?
But if the epic movement in Kelli’s hair (and gorgeous dresses!) weren’t already enough, the clouds brought the perfect amount of diffusion to the desert sun, which allowed us to shoot in directions we just normally can’t shoot when the sun is in full force! It was so fun for us to get to look at one of our favorite spots with an entirely different perspective!
Soft light and epic wind aside, the most inspiring thing about this session was really Kelli and Jon Anthony. They are both so sweet, so kind, so down to earth and so head over heels in love for each other. They radiated joy and their laughter was simply infectious. We agreed we’d all need a serious cheek massage afterwards! These two just light up around each other, and getting them in front of our cameras made us even more excited for their Paradise Valley Country Club wedding next month!
We loved every minute of our time with them, and then the session was over, they even surprised us with a gift! They brought us a gift! To their engagement session! How sweet is that?! We were blown away. Kelli knows how much Amy loves hot vanilla lattes from Starbucks, and she also knows that Amy relishes every. single. sip. (which usually means Amy is heating her latte in the microwave for DAYS before she’s finished with it!) so they gave us two ceramic Starbucks mugs to make the heating process more efficient and a Starbucks card (that we enjoyed this morning!)
We just left this session feeling so grateful. Our clients seriously make this THE best job in world, and we just feel so thankful that we get to play a small part in their lives.
Kelli and Jon Anthony, thank you for reminding us why we fell in love with this job in the first place. You two are already so special to us and we cannot wait for your wedding! Until then, here are just a few of our many favorites!
