We’ll never forget when we first sat down with Ilea and Angelo. We connected right away because Angelo’s last name and Amy’s maiden name sounded very similar: Fratantoni and Finocchiaro. The connection? They’re both very, very Italian.
We laughed and joked as if we had all been friends for years, and we related to them instantly as they began describing their families and we began sharing about ours. Ilea comes from a small, quiet family, a lot like Amy’s Irish side, while Angelo’s Italian family is a lot like Jordan’s “big fat” Greek one. Have you seen the movie? It’s not too far off, except for the Windex. That’s more crazy old grandpa than it is Greek!
As we talked more and more and dove deeper into conversation, Angelo looked at us with a huge smile and explained, “My family is big and loud and very Italian. We’re going to party all night long and shut the place down! And we want you there to capture it all!” And they did. They totally did. But in the most fun way possible. You could just feel the warmth in the room as Angelo’s grandparents tore up the dance floor. You could hear the love and support of people clapping and calling our cheers as they had their first dance. It was loud, there’s no doubt about that, but the very best kind of loud. Living out loud, and doing it with love.
Everywhere we turned, we were seeing hugs, tears, laughter, a whole lot of dancing, and passion. Buckets of it. We even got a taste of their family’s famous homemade recipes straight from the motherland, as there were literally thousands — seven thousand to be exact — of homemade Italian desserts (Jordan took a box a canolis home!) to keep the party going late into the night. It was so fun to be honorary full-fledged Italians for the night!
Ilea and Angelo, thank you for warmly welcoming us into your family for the day. Your love for each other is so undeniable, and it was such an honor to capture your beautiful wedding day. We can’t wait for you to see all the photos, but for now, we’re so excited to share a few of our favorites with you.
