The first time we met Erika and Phillip was for their engagement session in the downtown Phoenix arts district on a colorful street called Roosevelt Row. Each block teased our senses. Bright, freshly painted graffiti walls. Aromatic, greasy, ethnic, family-owned food trucks. And hippie street vendors selling homemade bracelets. It was their neck of the woods, their stomping ground, their home, the place where they do life together, from the simple things to the big ones, and it couldn’t have been a more fitting backdrop for two people who flee from boring, who run from mundane, who hide from typical, and instead run toward life’s next adventure together.
It’s almost hard to believe that years ago, had Flip not taken Erika’s phone and in one bold, colorful stroke, added his number, there might’ve never been a text message, phone call, or first date. Their relationship might’ve never taken hold and taken off. He never would’ve gotten down on one knee. She never would’ve said, “Yes!” We wouldn’t be writing this post or sharing these images. And their love story wouldn’t be continuing for years and generations to come. Call it fate. Call it luck. Call it what you will. Love always finds a way…
