He called her at work. “Let’s get dinner tonight,” he suggested. She couldn’t wait.
She walked in the door after another long day of teaching elementary school and coaching cheer. She was exhausted. In a good way. You see, for her, there’s nothing quite like loving those kids. Seeing them learn and grow. Watching them become bigger, better, and stronger. She’s an educator. A born encourager. And a saint for sacrificing so much of herself for others. As former teachers who have been in those trenches, that’s our opinion, anyways.
He was waiting for her when she got home. Nothing seemed different. Nothing was different. She thought. Like they always did, Kim and Bill laid down next to each other. They talked about their day. Let it all out. The good, bad, and ugly. It helped to detox every evening. To share life’s hurts and happiness. To take the hard stuff away from each other, and make the other’s burdens lighter. It’s what they did. Every day without fail. In a sense, after hours apart every day, that precious time was like a magnet that brought them back together. It reconnected them.
Until it disconnected them. Just for a moment, though.
Without warning, Bill’s phone rang. Normally, he’d ignore it. This was their time, after all. But he said he couldn’t. “It’s work,” he groaned. So, he stepped outside for just a minute then popped back in. That was fast, she thought. And it was. But that’s because it wasn’t work. Not at all. It was her dad. Bill had been waiting for his call all day, because he needed his blessing. To marry his daughter. So, almost as soon as Bill hung up the phone, the final piece of the puzzle in place, he dropped down onto one knee, looked up at the stunned face of the schoolteacher he’d fallen in love with, and said the four words that every girl waits her entire life to hear, “Will you marry me?”
Kim and Bill, we’ll never forget the first time we met you for coffee. Something clicked right from the start, so much so that we took a selfie at our meeting (a welcomed first, we might add), officially making you the fastest to ever become an #ajbride. From that moment, we couldn’t wait to get you both in front of our cameras. And you didn’t disappoint! You smiled so much it made our cheeks hurt! Just like the first time we met, we could’ve spent all day with you both. Thank you for trusting us and being willing to explore the desert. You might not’ve believed us at first when we kept saying, “It’ll be worth it!” but it truly paid off! We’ve never seen such gorgeous purple blossoms like these in Arizona before and we just LOVE the way they turned out! The next time we see you, you’ll be wearing a charcoal suit and white dress, and it’ll be spectacular. Until then, though, here are a few highlights of our time together…
