It was long past sunset the first time we met Gloria and Josh for an evening coffee and casual chat about their El Chorro wedding. With a light breeze in the air, it was just cool enough for a sweatshirt, a perfect night for two couples to cozy up across from each other at a patio table, warm drinks in hand, and talk about life and love. They’re both quiet in a sweet, almost shy, type of way. We’re loud in a spirited Greek-Italian sort of way. Yet, we had something in common right from the start: love, and the desire to preserve it in its raw, unfiltered, joyous, emotional state for today, tomorrow, and generations to come, so that grandkids will look at their photos years from now through our lens and say to each other, “Wow, Grandpa really loved Grandma a lot.”
Mission accomplished.
When a couple’s in love — truly in love — you can see things you can’t normally see with the naked eye. Emotional things. Ethereal things. It’s magnetic, perfect, like watching two pieces of a puzzle fit perfectly together. Comfortable. Or seeing two lost wires reconnect. Electrical. Throw out your preconceived notions about quiet. Forget your impressions of shy. We have. Because passion isn’t a matter of decibels. It’s a matter of depth. And when Josh holds Gloria in his arms, there’s not a person on this planet who can convince us that it’s better to talk about love than just to feel it.
