As photographers, we know what it feels like to be on our side of the lens, but it’s easy to forget what it feels like to be on our clients’ side of the lens. So, for the past two years, we’ve decided to have our portraits taken by a professional photographer for two reasons: a) we believe that everyone should update their photos with a professional on a regular basis, and b) we never want to forget what it feels like to be in our clients’ shoes, because it makes us more enthusiastic encouragers and more intentional photographers.
So, when world-renowned photographer and our dear friend Melissa Jill asked us to pose as models for the mock engagement session at her MJ2DAY photography workshop, we giggled with excitement… and then went on
a successful an unsuccessful diet. This week, we shopped for hours… and hours… and hours… for the perfect outfits, which meant this was Jordan’s view most of Monday morning afternoon evening. Since we knew that we’d be in front of 15 cameras AT THE SAME TIME (talk about shutter shock!) we wanted to model the style we love to wear and the look we love to photograph: something a little more editorial, a J. Crew look for men fused with an Anthropology look for women.
We felt a little nervous at first (like everyone does), but once we got comfortable, we did what we do best: we held each other and laughed.
Melissa, we’re so thankful for your friendship and mentorship. You’re a world-class professional and a first-class person. The best possible compliment we could give you is this: you’re even better in person than you are online. Thank you so much for freezing a few moments of our life that we’ll treasure forever. We love you!
